Logan
Four years ago, my life changed forever.
Some see it as a vast improvement.
Me?
I’m not so sure. The guilt from my betrayal has haunted me from day one.
I knew my past would catch up to me. So when it comes crashing back into my life, I know the time has come to finally make it right.
My path to redemption won’t be easy. But I've always been up for a challenge.
Quinn
My life was never golden, but I had everything I needed. Then four years ago, everything changed.
I lost everything important to me, including myself.
I’m not certain I’m capable of forgiveness. So when the past comes back into my life, there will be no absolution for him in my heart.
READ AN EXCERPT HERE:
“Oh Logan, I am so sorry.” I glare at her, warring against the misery and rage deep inside. “Don’t look at me like that. I can’t fucking stand to see the pity.” “It’s not pity, Logan.” “Yes. It is.” She shakes her head and wipes a tear from her face. “Maybe we can talk to her and convince her to come back.” “Stop.” I yell a little louder than I mean to, and Phillip gives me a warning glare, but I’m too fucking high, drunk, and pissed to care. “You can’t fucking fix this. You can’t fix everything by adopting it and giving it a warm fucking bed and a hug, pretending like nothing bad ever happened. It doesn’t work like that.”“Logan, shut the fuck up. Now.” Phillip glares, and I know he’s pissed. Something I don’t see from him often. “You guys have this perfect life, and you love to throw money at underprivileged kids.” They donate a lot of shit to programs for foster kids. I know they’ve done a lot of good, and I’m being a total dick. “You let Quinn move in here, a complete stranger, with no questions. And then pat yourselves on the back thinking you made it all better. That you’re fucking saints. It doesn’t stop the pain.” Gillian stands, the tears on her face hurting me more than I ever thought anything could. She purses her lips and sniffles, composing herself. “I’m sorry she left. When you’re ready to talk, I’ll be here.” She gives Phillip’s arm a squeeze as she walks away from us and into the house, head down with defeat. Fuck! That’s definitely not what I meant to do. Phillip stands with his arms crossed, not moving, his glare almost haunting. “Feel better?” I shake my head. “No.”
