Fizzbo is used to taking care of people. He’s the one in charge of the personal and professional security needs for both world-famous rock bands, Ivory Tower and Black Ice. Having their backs is what he does best, and he takes pride in that, both on and off the job. When he’s called into action to save the man he loves, all of his skills are put to the test. Suddenly, he isn't so sure his training will be enough, but saving Kensey is personal, and he’s willing do anything to keep him safe.
Kensey Pride is the man who rocked Fizzbo's world when they met during the European tour with Ivory Tower and Black Ice. Kensey's passion for his job, making people look and feel beautiful in their own skin, is something he lacks in his own life until the magnetism of a certain security guard comes along and breaks down the walls he's built around his heart to keep him safe. For the first time in his life, Kensey discovers he likes who he sees looking back at him in the mirror.
Without the safety of those walls and his heart left unprotected, Kensey becomes an easy target for those who can't let go of the past. Will Fizzbo's strength and love be enough to bring Kensey home, or will old truths be too much for the guard to handle?
Excerpt
“Come on, old man. I'll show you how it's done,” Kensey said.
Fizzbo froze in place, his feet sinking into the soft sand. “Whoa, who the fuck are you calling an old man?”
Kensey arched one thin brow. “Did I hit a nerve with that comment?”
“Does my age really bother you?” Fizzbo asked with his hands on his hips.
Kensey stepped back to Fizzbo and held his steady gaze. “Nope. It doesn't bother me in the least,” he answered with conviction. “I kind of like that you're an . . . older, more mature man.”
“Jesus, how fucking old do you think I am?”
“I don't know, maybe . . . forty?” Kensey dropped his gaze to the sand to try and hide his smile.
“What the actual fuck?” Fizzbo nearly roared the words. “Forty? Are you fucking joking right now? Do I really look forty to you?” He spit the words out like he were describing some kind of terminal disease.
Kensey finally lost control of the laugh he was holding back and let it fly. “I'm busting your balls!” he exclaimed, then he bent over holding onto his thighs as his shoulders continued to quake from the humor he saw in the situation.
“Hey, I'm being serious here,” Fizzbo admonished. “How old do you really think I am? Tell me. I want to know.”
Kensey did his best to pull himself together and stood upright to face him. His eyes canvassed Fizzbo's face and body, slowly skimming over every ridge of muscle, the thick column of his throat, and that chiseled jawline that Kensey imagined dragging his tongue across and feeling the scrap of whiskers against it. He could feel his cock beginning to take notice of the situation, hardening faster than he could stop it from happening.
“Thirty-five,” Kensey finally guessed after pretending to carefully calculate his answer.
Fizzbo seemed to deflate a bit after that and finally a grin appeared on his face. “I'm thirty-six,” he offered. “Is that too old for you?”
Kensey shook his head. “Nope, I think you're okay. I'm twenty-six and you fall just under the geezer threshold, so we're good. I can do this and not have to worry about being arrested for elder abuse.”
Fizzbo lunged for Kensey and threw him over his shoulders in a fireman's carry before Kensey had a chance to protest. “You fucking smart ass,” he scolded. “You'll pay for that last remark.”
“Hmmm, is that a promise?”
“Don't tempt me, you little whipper-snapper,” Fizzbo chuckled as he began to haul Kensey back towards his house. “I'm happy to put you over my knee and punish you for that smart mouth of yours.”
Kensey bounced on Fizzbo's broad shoulders with each step he took in the sand. “Okay, now you're just being a cruel tease!”
“A tease is someone who doesn't follow through,” Fizzbo said. “Something else you should know about me, Kens, I always follow through–with promises and threats.”
Kensey slumped against Fizzbo's broad shoulders and sighed loudly. “Fuckkkk.”
“You've met your match with me,” Fizzbo laughed. “The sooner you embrace that truth, the better off you'll be at handling me.”
